David the indefatigable cross country runner

Created by Ian 3 years ago

One January day in about 1983 he and I started from Eastbourne to run the Seven Sisters Marathon through snow, then out of the woods into Cuckmere Haven and along the top of the 7 sisters cliffs. David could have outrun me but he was a loyal friend who didn't like to leave one behind (maybe he didn't want to get lost!).We'd met a few years earlier at Sussex Uni and often ran together over the Downs often starting from Swnaborough Manor where he had a cosy flat. Many were the cups of tea and glasses of wine he proffered.

His companionship when running was warm, humorous and often intellectual. Quite simply: for me he made running fun and I miss him.
